Has New Rochelle Devolved into a Strong Mayor Form of Government?
DUBLIN, IRELAND (July 19, 2024) — Since she took office on January 1, 2024, Yadira Ramos-Herbert, wielding the cudgel of a subservient 6-1 majority on the New Rochelle City Council, has inexorably moved the City of New Rochelle towards one-person, one-party rule.
Things have gotten so bad, Councilmember Albert Tarantino was prompted at last Wednesday’s meeting to ask, “What are we on council? Is this a strong Mayor form of government? Is that what we’ve created here? Because that is what it looks like.”
