New Rochelle FOIL Stonewalling & Useful Idiots

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (April 18, 2025) — For over a year, I’ve been battling the City of New Rochelle’s relentless efforts to block my Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) requests, which expose public sector corruption. City officials, led by Corporation Counsel Dawn Warren, claim my requests are too “voluminous,” but I believe this is a deliberate tactic to hide misconduct.
A local taxpayer, Ryan Lewis, recently echoed City Hall’s narrative, arguing my FOILs are a costly burden—a “Cox tax”—that raises property taxes without sufficient financial return as if there is supposed to be a Return on Investment on FOILs.
I believe this perspective is misguided and ignores the public’s right to transparency.
