TIKTOK: Free Accounts End 12/31/2024 so only THREE more newsletters to go if you do not upgrade to a paid account. ACT NOW (SEE BELOW).
For those remaining with Free accounts on Ghost, now is the time to choose a paid account option. I would prefer you get a Premium subscription for $7/mo or $70/yr (a 17% saving if you select the annual plan). I created the Basic subscription option at $5/yr, so Free subscribers could pay a nominal fee to remain as a subscriber in the belief that if you are not willing to pay even $5 a year, you are not all that interested in supporting my work. Both include a free month trial, so really no excuse.
DUBLIN, IRELAND (December 8, 2024) — We make plans and God laughs. In my case, I decided to pause my reporting for a few days to work on clearing a backlog of personal business, mostly year-end paperwork but also for a major project for here in Ireland (which I will not talk about now but probably a year from now).
My plans were rudely interrupted by a bizarre development: New Rochelle Corporation Counsel Dawn Warren proposing to City Manager Will Melendez that the New Rochelle City Court approve an unlimited budget to investigate me and fund any legal action Dawn Warren and Development Commissioner Adam Salgado wish to pursue against me. It would unwise for me to comment on their magical thinking at this time, so I simply published their “cease and desist” letter, Dawn’s memo, the proposed City Council resolution, and a 16-minute video clip from the council’s December 10 meeting along with an unofficial transcript. See the links below.
I was happy to see the comments section on the last two articles lit up.
What about X?
I always tell anyone who asks, if you want to know everything going on with me and my reporting follow me on X (@robertcox) and Talk of the Sound on X (@talkofthesound). Everything I publish goes on X, and it is where I share personal observations and share content. I have accounts on FB, IG, LI because some readers prefer them, but I do not. I have accounts with TikTok, BlueSky, Mastodon, Truth Social and myriad other platforms as largely inactive placeholder accounts.
Lately, I have been making brief videos on X. They offer a live broadcast option, so if you subscribe to me on X you will know when I am live broadcasting and can watch and interact.
Now that my paperwork backlog is cleared and the Dawn and Adam legal threats are out in the open, I will get back to my Thimblerig series which triggered the legal threats (umm, no, I do not stop reporting because of legal threats from targets of my reporting — not my first rodeo).

Our First Year in Ireland in Pictures
Cheers for now!
If you have not already upgraded to a paid subscription, you can do so here for as low as $5 for a year with a Basic subscription. All free accounts will be purged on December 13, 2024. What are you waiting for?

Why Upgrade?
Free Accounts are no longer available to new subscribers. Those grandfathered in today who do not upgrade to a paid account by December 31, 2024, will be removed on that day. In the remaining few months, free subscribers will be limited to a weekly email newsletter with links to recommended articles on Talk of the Sound (free), links to articles elsewhere on the web (mostly free but some paywalled content) and the headlines of my Paid and Premium content with a teaser but not the actual articles.
Basic Accounts are just $5 a year with the first month free and include the weekly email newsletter described above, full non-Premium articles, commenting, and access to the archive of non-Premium content.
Premium Accounts are $7 a month or two-months free, with an annual subscription costing $70 instead of $84 — either with the first month free. Premium includes everything and is the best value: all articles in full, the newsletter, commenting, archives, bonus content and more.
I would encourage all Free Account subscribers to upgrade immediately to at least a Basic Account and certainly consider a Premium account, which is the gold standard and helps support my journalism.
