Sustainable Westchester 2024 Contract: Part X

Part X in a 10-Part Series

A few closing thoughts on New Rochelle’s shoddy treatment of residents …

DUBLIN, IRELAND (October 25, 2024) — The Westchester Power Opt-Out Period for New Rochelle ended on October 20 with none of the hyper-local community engagement promised by Nick Tedrow to Yadira, Martha and David.

There were a few last minute social media posts on the last weekend of the opt-out period but only after my aggressive prodding. Even then, deceptive and inaccurate opt-out links were promoted for days on the City home page and the information kiosks throughout New Rochelle. This continued even after I raised the alarm on the fake links.

To add to the confusion, a Westchester Power information page, buried deep within the City website, was 7 years out of date. It was only just updated a few days ago, after aggressive prodding by me.

Why should it take my time, effort, research, outreach, and reporting, as well as me posting on my social media platforms and websites, and then my repeated, aggressive prodding, to get the City to do what they should have done themselves, what Martha, David, and Yadira were promised 5 months ago by Sustainable Westchester, that there would be a serious effort to educate residents who received the Westchester Power mailer on the program, and to publish accurate information, and to make sure residents knew how to opt-out?

The answer is obvious.
