The New Rochelle Thimblerig — Part VII

DUBLIN, IRELAND (November 19, 2024) — Development Commissioner Adam Salgado wants more cowbell. Talk about tone-deaf.

He was well aware I had a story coming about his wasting $125,000 of taxpayer money on jazz concerts few attended with no accounting for where the money went. Despite this, he announced Thursday yet another jazz-infused boondoggle meant to drain tens of thousands of dollars out of city coffers to satisfy the demands of Mayor Yadira Ramos-Herbert, and Councilmembers David Peters and Shane Osinloye, all to funnel money to their cronies.

The ethically challenged commissioner could not keep a straight face at last week’s COW Meeting as he lied to the Mayor, saying he would follow all the procurement rules in hiring for the jazz event then laughed out loud when the Mayor replied by saying she had “Full faith and confidence” in his “ability to follow the procurement rules”.

If she actually believes that, it shows her to be a poor judge of character. Keep reading and I will tell you why.

To set this latest mess in context, I need to go back about six years.
